ARRI Rental Serviced Productions Take Top Honors Two Years In A Row

BIRDMAN was the big winner during this year's awards season. As well as Oscar and BAFTA awards for Cinematography, Emmanuel "Chivo" Lubezki, ASC, AMC, was also honored for his work by scooping the top prize in the feature film competition at the 29th Annual American Society of Cinematographers (ASC) Awards for Outstanding Achievement.

This marks Lubezki's second Oscar and BAFTA in two consecutive years, as well as the first time that a cinematographer has won back-to-back ASC Awards in the theatrical category, having taken the same accolades last year for GRAVITY.

Both BIRDMAN and GRAVITY were captured with ALEXA cameras and ARRI/ZEISS Master Prime lenses, and proudly serviced by ARRI Rental.

Other ARRI Rental supported productions that featured during awards season were THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL, captured by Robert Yeoman, ASC, and THE THEORY OF EVERYTHING, captured by BenoƮt Delhomme, AFC. THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL won five BAFTAs, and tied with BIRDMAN at the top of the academy's league table, with both films taking four Oscars each. Among the awards picked up by THE THEORY OF EVERYTHING was a BAFTA for Outstanding British Film.

SELMA, shot by Bradford Young, and UNBROKEN, shot by Roger Deakins, CBE, ASC, BSC - both with ALEXAs - were also acknowledged during awards season, receiving assorted nominations. As did the IMITATION GAME, MR. TURNER, PADDINGTON and the documentary 20,000 DAYS ON EARTH, which were all supported with lighting equipment by ARRI Rental.

It was a great awards season, not only for ARRI Rental but for ARRI in General films shot with ARRI cameras dominated the ASC Award, BAFTA and Oscar nominations.

ARRI Rental congratulates Emmanuel Lubezki on his awards, and the cinematographers and crew behind all the winning and nominated productions; we thank you for relying on our equipment and service
